Larvikite is an intriguing and beautiful igneous rock, primarily composed of feldspar minerals, giving it a distinctive blueish-grey appearance with shimmering reflections. It can be found predominantly in the Larvik region of Norway, from which it derives its name, and is sometimes referred to as Norwegian Moonstone. To care for larvikite, it's best to clean it with warm soapy water and a soft cloth to maintain its luster. Avoid using harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners, as these can damage the stone's surface. Larvikite has a Mohs hardness of around 6 to 6.5, making it relatively durable but still requiring gentle handling to prevent scratches. Its chemical composition includes a mix of sodium, calcium, and aluminum silicate, contributing to its unique and captivating appearance.
